QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN (CAVANAGH CONCRETE)

We are looking for an energetic, hardworking individual to join our concrete team in a full-time role as a Quality Control Technician. The individual selected will be joining a growing team of like-minded individuals who are dedicated to making Cavanagh Concrete Ltd. and its subsidiary companies the choice supplier for residential and commercial ready-mix and formwork solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform quality control testing on concrete products, including field testing such as slump, air content, unit weight, yield, and cylinder preparation, as well as laboratory testing including compression testing, grinding, and scheduling of samples
- Prepare, mix, and test trial batches to verify product quality and ensure compliance with specifications
- Transport test cylinders and samples safely between job sites and the laboratory as required
- Observe all sampling and testing activities and accurately record and report any irregularities or abnormalities
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up to date records of all testing procedures, results, and related documentation
- Ensure laboratory areas, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and meet industry quality control and safety standards
- Maintain and renew all certifications required to perform testing procedures in accordance with industry requirements
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and contribute to a culture of safety in the workplace
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace, including both lab and field environments
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support operations and quality objectives
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum six months of related experience in a laboratory or quality control environment is preferred
- ACI Concrete Field Technician Level I certification is considered an asset, with training available for the right candidate
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing time and priorities effectively
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration
- Ability to read, write, and understand English to complete documentation and follow procedures
