Asphalt Foreperson
Location: Ottawa and Surrounding Areas
The individual in this role will have the responsibility of supervising their team’s work. They will provide guidance, assign tasks, and monitor the progress of each team member. It is their duty to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with established standards, address any performance issues that arise, and act as a point of contact for team members to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. Additionally, they will demonstrate leadership, offer mentorship and support to their teams, manage resources, make informed decisions, and maintain efficient communication with stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervising and leading the crew, ensuring efficient and high-quality work.
- Planning and organizing daily activities, coordinating with the superintendents, project managers and other team members.
- Assigning tasks to crew members and providing clear instructions and guidance.
- Monitoring the progress of projects and ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
- Overseeing the operation of equipment.
- Managing and tracking the allocation of resources, such as materials, equipment, and labor, to optimize productivity.
- Allocate and approve employees’ time.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment.
- Identifying and resolving any issues or obstacles that may arise during operations.
- Communicating and coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients as required.
- Maintaining accurate records of work performed, materials used, and daily progress reports.
- Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback to crew members.
- Collaborating with superintendents, project managers and other stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
Requirements:
- Valid drivers license.
- Experience in asphalt paving.
- Proven experience leading a paving crew.
- Solid knowledge of construction safety regulations and PPE requirements.

Wage Range:
The hourly range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $38.00 and $45.50 per hour. However, the range offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
