Overview
The Account Manager- Aggregates is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships in the Ottawa market. This role focuses on growing aggregate sales volume, managing key accounts, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring exceptional customer service while coordinating with operations, quality control, and dispatch.
The successful candidate will possess strong industry knowledge, excellent relationship-building skills, and a proven ability to manage customer accounts in a fast-paced construction materials environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Achieve sales volume, revenue, and profit margin targets
- Develop territory sales plan and growth strategies
- Forecast sales demand and provide market intelligence to management
Account Management & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new & existing client base
- Identify customer needs and recommend suitable aggregate products and solutions
- Prepare quotations and pricing proposals in a timely manner
- Negotiate supply agreements and terms in alignment with company objectives
- Conduct proactive customer visits and jobsite meetings throughout the region
- Respond to any customer complaint with recommended solutions
- Attend industry events as required
Operational Coordination
- Work closely with other members of the sales team, dispatch, area operations supervisors, and quality control to coordinate deliveries and customer requests
- Support inventory management and production planning through accurate sales forecasting
- Ensure accurate quote generation, order set up and entry, and customer account information within Ticketing and ERP systems
Safety
- Ensure personal competence to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable Cavanagh Group of Companies policies.
- Participate fully in all tasks necessary to support daily, weekly and monthly TCCL Health & Safety policies and procedures (i.e. Daily Tailgate Talks, Workplace Inspections, etc).
Requirements:
- Postsecondary education in Business, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
- 3-5 years minimum of sales or account management experience in aggregates, construction materials, or construction industry
- Strong understanding of aggregate products, applications, and Ottawa market conditions
- Established construction industry relationships within the Ottawa market considered a strong asset
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly through the Ottawa region
